Students in Ms. Dickson's ninth grade English
classes enjoy acting out the opening sword fight
scene of The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. They
also like getting dressed up for the Capulet Ball
with the masks they made.
For parents and students to keep informed about
Ms. Dickson's English I and Advanced English I
classes, they should use the Blackboard link on
the school's website. Parent username is
us_uniotoparent and password is abc123. Students
may use their own usernames and passwords to log
in. They should always check Blackboard if they
are absent so that they may have their work caught
up when they return to school. Parents and
students may also use Progress Book to learn what
grades and missing assignments the students have.
If the parents do not have their own usernames and
passwords, they should contact Mrs. Winks at the
high school main office.

Buckeye all the way, Mr. Lafferty invited students
at Unioto to enter his annual score-guessing game
for the Ohio State-Michigan game. He rewarded the
winners, Austin McGraw and Ryan Jacobsen, with
Payday candy bars.
Patrick Henry's "Speech in the Virginia
Convention"

Mr.
Flannery's English III classes have been studying
the rhetorical device antitheis through Patrick
Henry's "Speech in the Virginia Convention."
Pictured are some of his juniors in tri-cornered
hats as they deliver their renditions. Cody Egner
delivers the last paragraph, "Give me liberty or
give me death!" Wes Bouillion follows suit. Then
Cory Porter portrays Patrick Henry while Wes
Bouillion represents an American citizen under the
harsh and tyrannical rule of the British.
Beowulf and Grendel

Following their study of Beowulf and Grendel, Mrs.
Wettersten’s English IV students created their
versions of the monster, Grendel. The ferocious
beasts were displayed on the stage in the
auditeria, and this year several of the monsters
were displayed on the school grounds over the
Halloween weekend.
