Pickaway Ross Career & Technology Center
(PRCTC)
Unioto sophomores recently took a tour
of Pickaway Ross Career & Technology
Center (PRCTC). Students chose 3
programs to explore and were given a
free lunch. Applications will be mailed
to all students starting on December
9th. Current sophomore students that
are interested in attending PRCTC next
year should complete an application and
submit it to Mr. Alspach in the Unioto
High School Guidance Office. Additional

O.U.C. OFFERS A.C.T. COURSE
Ohio University-Chillicothe is sponsoring two
sections of the A.C.T. (American College Test)
preparation course to help area high school
students and O.U. College of Education students
study for the A.C.T., America's most widely
accepted college entrance exam, which is
required for admission to various colleges and
programs. The course is being offered as
non-credit only ($50 plus $10 book fee).
Information about fee waivers is available at
O.U.C.’s Continuing Education Office. The first
course will meet on two Saturdays, March 19,
2011, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and March 26,
2011, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., in Bennett
Hall at O.U.C. The second course will meet on
two Saturdays, May 14, 2011, from 9:30 a.m. to
3:30 p.m., and May 21, 2011, from 9:30 a.m. to
3:30 p.m., in Bennett Hall at O.U.C. The A.C.T.
Preparation course will provide an in-depth
review of the math, science, English, and
reading comprehension sections of the A.C.T.
Students need to make their own arrangements for
lunch, scheduled approximately from 12:00 p.m.
to 1:00 p.m. Applications are available in area
high school guidance counselor offices and in
O.U.C.'s Continuing Education office. Enrollment

help you with all your preparation. Unioto
High School is pleased to announce that
Peterson’s StudentEdge
is available for all high school students.
StudentEdge gives you access to test
preparation, college searches, a scholarship
search, financial aid tools, a career
assessment, and a resume builder—all in one
location and totally free! Students will
also get a personalized to do list that will
guide them through the planning process.
Even 9th grade students can get a head start
on college and career prep with the online
practice tests and career assessment. You
can access StudentEdge by going to
www.mystudentedge.com.

Parents - ask your student to see his/her
scores! For help understanding the scores;

Tutorial for Understanding PSAT/NMSQT. Also,
each student receives free access to My College
QuickStart for the remainder of their high
school career.
My College QuickStart is an easy-to-use, online,
personalized college and career planning kit
available free of charge to all students who
take the PSAT/NMSQT. The information and answers
your child provided when they took the test are
incorporated into this useful tool, and it
presents their data back to them in four main
parts:
• My Online Score Report- an enhanced score
report that allows students to review each test
question, the student’s answer, and the correct
answer with answer explanations.
• My SAT Study Plan- a customized SAT study plan
based on student PSAT/NMSQT test performance,
highlighting skills for review and practice.
• My College Matches- A starter list of colleges
based on the student’s state and indicated
choice of major.
• My Major and Career Matches- Major and career
matches that are compatible with the student’s
general interests and personality type.
Access is available using the access code
printed on the student’s paper score report, and
the tool can be utilized throughout high school.

child is a great way to introduce and guide your
child through important aspects of the

OGT for Students and Families


Remember - no matter where you are planning
on attending college, you must fill out the
FAFSA. Most schools have priority deadlines of
March 1st - check with your college/university
for more specific dates.
If
you have questions after attempting to fill out
the FAFSA; please call the guidance office and
schedule an appointment to meet with Miss
Williams.
Also there are additional resources regarding
financial aid available to students in the
guidance office; including a variety of
scholarships with more arriving weekly! Send
your senior student in to
pick up more information!

These are the last testing dates until
next fall. All junior students should
take at least one of the college
assessments prior to the start of their
senior year.
